AUDITIONS – AUGUST 24th

Nutcracker Audition 8/24 (Santa Cruz, CA) only at IAD

Come to our Nutcracker Auditions in Santa Cruz! Perform on the big stage, make lifelong friends, and get a professional experience. Rehearsals will be in our studio, while the big performance will be at Cabrillo College’s Crocker Theater. We’d love for you to join us on stage, so please audition for our Nutcracker Performance this season!

Audition Fee: $25 – Form due August 22nd at Midnight.
Participation Fee: $295 base + $50 per additional role (Max 4 roles)
Scholarship applications available upon request. Scholarships awarded based on talent and need, and requires proof of income.
Santa Cruz Dance Guild is a 501c3 organization, bringing the joy of dance to our community through vision, outreach, training and performance.

Please note: prior to midnight of August 22nd, we must receive your completed Nutcracker Audition Form in order to audition and be considered for casting. Please read through the form carefully as there is quite a lot of information. You will want to take extra time with the conflicts section, to make sure that you have gone through your schedule fully prior to the performances.

Please arrive to the audition warmed up and ready to dance, with your hair neatly done and in your class dance attire. Arrive early to ensure that your measurements, headshot, and paperwork are completed prior to the audition. Please arrive at least 20 minutes prior to your audition time.

Ages 11+ (Level IV/V/VI and Adult) En Pointe Dancers
*If you want to be considered for an en pointe role, you must attend this audition

Volunteer to Help!

We rely on our wonderful volunteers to help at every stage of the Nutcracker—from the Audition, to costume fittings, and all the way to backstage at the shows! While our day-of-show sign-ups are not yet open, we’d love if you helped out during the audition! If you’d like to help out during the Audition on August 24th, please sign-up here.

Sign-Up through Dance Studio Pro!

You can now sign-up directly through Dance Studio Pro! Here’s how:

  1. Login or make an account for Santa Cruz City Ballet (SCDG)
    Please note: If you’re enrolled in IAD classes, this account is separate from the IAD account
  2. Add a student under “Quick Links” (if on mobile) –> “Account” –> “Students”
  3. Register for Auditions under “Register” –> “Classes”
  4. You will need to be enrolled in Auto-Pay in order to register for auditions. At the time of sign-up, you will only be charged the $25 audition fee.
  5. That’s it! Once paid and registered, you will receive a confirmation email. You can now purchase add-ons like hoodies, bundles, video download, and more!

All our auditions for the Nutcracker are in the Santa Cruz Area (near Costco and Joby), and the performance will be in the Aptos campus of Cabrillo College (in their Crocker Theater).

Call Backs 9/7

Some dancers will be asked to come to a call-back on September 7th, 12:00-1:00 PM. If you are not called back, it doesn’t mean you didn’t get in—just that we didn’t need to see you again!

You will be notified by September 14th regarding participation. Rehearsals will begin September 20th, so stay tuned and keep this in mind when planning trips! Please reach out to us if you have any questions about our Nutcracker performance, auditions, or Santa Cruz studio!
